Lyrics Howe, Music Howe, Ibbotson & Chapple
Keyboards – Gareth Young.
When this was first written, it was intended as a social comment on the ‘Throw Away’ culture and direction some people are heading.
As it developed however, I was being asked if it was about ‘this person’ or ‘that person’ as it seemed a lot of folks recognised these traits in specific individuals, however, for me it became quite a self-critique as I began to look back on my life and choices made to date.
Musically I had images of ‘Distress Beacons’, Light Houses out to sea and people stranded seeking rescue, in my head when writing it.
So the solo was also constructed as a kind of ‘question and answer’ thing between safety and danger.
The part of the ‘Question’ was played by Mr. Les Paul and the ‘Answer’ by Mr; Strat O’ Caster.
