We released this in a shorter (more radio friendly)
version earlier this year as a free download and ‘Album
Teaser’ so as promised, here’s the full fat version which
might now make the single a collector’s item !
This is written from the ‘demon drink’ perspective
observing and talking to the victim who he’s affecting.
The Guy’s living his life through an alcohol haze,
oblivious to what it’s doing to him and consuming one
drink after another.
Mr. ‘Alcohol’ starts to feel sorry for him, reflecting on
what he used to be but soon changes his mind, singing
the praises of what they achieve when together.
‘Suds’ is an American slang for Beer and ‘Crow’ is a
reference to ‘Old Crow’ a particularly cheap and potent
whiskey sold during the prohibition.
Hey Johnny boy, say what’s your problem? You’re
running round like a chimpanzee.
Whatever happened to tall dark & handsome?
Right now you’re looking like a refugee.
But who am I, your brother’s keeper?
We hit that sweet spot every time we meet.
See the Mercury, Rise in the morning.
Watch the steam down the valley road
Fill your mouth with, Cherry Honey.
Followed by some Suds & Crow.
See you & me we’re like oil & water. Forces of
nature, we don’t mix well.
Best kept apart like a, fatal attraction. Taking a sip
opens the gates of hell.
Just knock it back, & reap the whirlwind. You hold
a jar just like its fates right hand.
Don’t give a damn when you name your poison,
Mountain Dew’s as good as any brand.
Chorus to end
